Name | Alias: Wakasagihime
Journal: sashimihime
Age: unknown, looks about ~19
Canon: Touhou Project
Canon point: post-Impossible Spell Card
History: https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Wakasagihime#Story

Personality:

Gensokyo is a world full of youkai, many of whom would pick fights and fling bullets at anyone with or without the slightest provocation. And… then there’s Wakasagihime. A pacifistic mermaid who’s happy to live an unassuming life in her lake, singing and collecting rocks in her spare time, bothering nobody and staying out of the way of conflict. She’s a genuinely sweet girl who, despite lacking the aggression one would normally expect from a youkai, still holds a lot of pride in being one. Enough to join a grassroots youkai network in a desire to help her fellow monster friends. And probably also to be part of a shoal. She’s half-fish, after all.

Even if she may live a rather sheltered life due to being water-bound, she is friendly enough to reach out and connect to other youkai through the network and has built up a reputation for being so timid she wouldn’t even harm a fly. Which is what makes her appearance in Double Dealing Character so surprising to those who know her. Under the influence of the Miracle Mallet, she goes more than a little stir-crazy and aggressive, enough to ditch her usual nonviolent tendencies and attack the protagonist. Partly under the impression that they were going to exterminate her first, and partly out of instinctive impulse to fight for once in her life.

It’s not actually known whether Wakasagihime is a real princess or not, but she does act incredibly haughty when she challenges the heroine, the exact opposite from what you’d expect from formerly shy and kind self. It’s almost as if her personality did a complete reverse--which could definitely make sense, considering that the girl behind the activation of the Miracle Mallet has the power of reversal and turning things upside-down. But it’s also possible that the Miracle Mallet might even have drawn on her deep unconsciousness and a genuine desire to prove herself, one that might even be unknown to herself, and just amplified it. The Mallet’s primary power is in manipulating size, and specifically in making smaller things larger. Literally in the case of the final boss, an inchling girl who uses it to grow to the size of a human girl. Or metaphorically, in the case of Wakasagihime and any aggression she may have harbored and forgotten about. She’s rather unimpressive for a youkai, but she’s definitely aware of this and of the fact that weaker youkai like herself can easily be put down by youkai exterminators, such as the protagonist. Despite this, she demands that the heroine take her seriously in their battle regardless.

Though Wakasagihime returns to her usual docile personality after the Mallet incident is dealt with, she would definitely still remember the battle-high and rush of being affected by its power. It might take a bit of adjustment, but she’d remain just as friendly as she was before. And pacifistic… for the most part, if unprovoked. She knows what it feels to fight back now. After everything is said and done, she may be a mermaid, but she’s still a youkai. And she’s proud of it.

Abilities and Nerfs: she grows stronger when underwater! and like every other Touhou character, she shoots ‘bullets’ known as danmaku--hers are scale-like in appearance. in addition, she can manipulate water to an extent and throw waves at her enemies. but all things considered, she’s a rather weak low-level youkai--she can’t even fly like everyone else in the Touhou canon.

also, she seems to be quite good at singing. it comes with the mermaid territory.
